Excess male breast tissue, called "gynecomastia", can be treated with several different surgical approaches depending on the severity of the problem. Surgical options include liposuction contouring of the breast alone, liposuction plus direct excision of excess breast gland tissue, and excision of excess breast skin plus tissue.

A consultation is essential to determine which option is best for a particular patient. The patient shown here had only modest gynecomastia but the tissue was quite glandular and not amenable to removal by liposuction alone. Therefore he received liposuction contouring of the breast followed by excision of the remaining glandular tissue using an incision around the areola.
